Adorable, cuddly and full of curiosity, babies are amazing to say the least. They are the center of attention, they light up our hearts and brighten a room with a smile, not to mention melting your heart when they laugh.
Baby Dreams
When a baby emerges in your dream it’s considered a very powerful omen relating to good news, future success and advancement. However negative associations with babies often mirror personal upsets, losses and development issues.
Every month google averages approximately 1 million searches to find the meaning when they dream of a baby. Considering being one of the most sought out dream searches one will often wonder what perspectives are new on the horizon.
Common Baby Dreams:
- Twins
- Triplets
- Quadruplets
- Holding baby in arms
- Breastfeeding
- Adoption
- Baby dying
- Baby poop, abandoned, ex baby, falling baby dreams.
Before we jump the gun we must understand how our dreams communicate with us. The theme will provide you with clues surrounding the baby, people around you, locations and what is taking place with the baby. Thinking in metaphors helps narrow down the meaning of the dream.
Fun Fact:
Did you know the size of a newborn baby stomach is the size of a walnut.
Baby Dreams: A Personal Transformation
Babies commonly appear in dreams when someone is going through a personal transformation in their lives. A sign of a new growth phase starting in your life, a reminder that this rejuvenation can be either emotional, phyical or spiritual advancement.
Similar to when a butterfly appears in your dreams, a baby shows you the end stages of the metamorphosis process. A symbol that new life has now sprung in your life and lots of new responsibility.
Your dream will provide you with clues that surround the baby to help narrow down were the transformation is occurring. Locations and the people around you are often major hints were to direct your attention.
- Relationships
- Career
- Emotional
- Spiritual
Baby Dreams: Healing The Inner Child
The term “inner child” in analytical psychology can be refereed to the child that hides every grown adult. This child is often unconscious that reflects the child who we once were. Alternatively this little child could have been trapped in the past and is now being nurtured.
Negative past experiences such as painful memories, emotional upsets, or even as simple as your doll being taken away; may in fact stunt the growth of this child.
Your dream might be indicating the baby is the part of you that is now free and will get the love and nourishment it needs.
Fun Fact:
Babies go through around 3360 nappies in the first year.
Baby Dreams: The Biological Clock
Surely all women must have a maternal instinct kick in or the whole human race would dissolve. The unconscious sound of the ominous ticking “biological clock” when they reach their 30’s, might be dreaming of babies more often.
Dreams often incorporate your repressed feelings or fears in a metaphoric manner. Babies might pop up relating to your maternal drive being magnified due to societal or family pressure.
You will need to ask if this dream could be a wish fulfillment or something you fear missing out on.
Baby Dreams: You Need To Grow Up
Imagine we had a tool that would assess both our phyical and emotional age, their would be a lot of hiding. The baby might appear to be a manifestation of all your immature behaviors.
The underdeveloped child screams for your attention wanting to become an adult. Just because you have reached adulthood doesn’t necessarily mean your have mastered the core elements of adult emotional functioning.
Alternatively your dream could be hinting at areas in your life that you are unconscious of and need improvement.
- Emotional escalations
- Blaming and lies
- Center of attention
- Impulsiveness and anger out burst
- Cry baby, a need to get what it wants or else.
- Narcissism
Fun Fact:
Newborns are amazing swimmers. They have natural aquatic instincts when in water.
Baby Dreams: How To Analyze
It would be trivial to clump all baby dreams into one translation as many do online. This is a very powerful symbol that often appears to be either unconscious to the dreamer, or possibly something develops in the near future.
What makes such an enigmatic symbol is it changes based of gender, age and unconscious events in your life. An adult male would interpret this dream differently then a teenager in high school, or a grandmother.
i dreamed I went to the doctor and was told I am pregnant, then, I started crying hysterically, any thoughts. When I woke up I was feeling like, what the heck
loads of babies floating face up..all seemed to be happy and enjoying the experience
I had a dream of being in induced labor ,
While only 4 months pregnant .
I am confused …
I had a dream that an old couple was shooting at me trying to kill me. I ended up killing both of them first, and the old woman transformed into a baby. I then had to raise her and had the feeling that I cared deeply for her, and her for me, but there was still a great deal of resentment as well. Thoughts?
I usually see a baby boy in my dreams which presumably is mine, earlier i used to dream about being pregnant, its always normal daily things that i do with him, eating sleeping or bathing him, going shopping with him, he kinda growed with passing months i remember seeing a newborn child then a few months old,a year old,now i see a approx 2-3 year old child, nothing wierd happens in the dreams but sometimes if he says something which is rarely, his voice echos so loud in my entire being that i wake up with a jolt sometimes even… Read more »

I’m 56 and had a dream that I had a baby and asked the baby ‘What should I name you?’ and the baby replied ‘I want to be called Maryann’ . Then I had another baby a while later and I asked what should I name you and the baby said ‘I want to be called Daniel”.
Any idea what this means.
No idea, but it might have a connection to the yin and yang; development of your masculine and feminine energies. See yin and yang in search bar.
I had two or three dreams where me and my fiancé are hold and or playing with a baby boy but my lady friend is here right now
Its quite possible that these feelings can be incorporated in your dream. “I want a baby so badly but we’re not on the same page” I would advise to sort out your issues before bringing a child into the world as it can do much damage.
I dreamed a baby was floating in water and I was having a conversation with someone while fixated on this baby for fear it would drown.
I had a dream I had quadruplets, all 4 being girls, and a son. My boyfriend is there and we have a cute house and it was like just regular life. We put them to nap and my son played video games in the living room. The only weird thing about it was none of the kids had names. The son was about 7 years old and didnt have a name and all of the girls were about 1 years old and didnt have names. It was very odd, they all loved the fact they didnt have names too.
Interesting. This might be reflecting something between you and your boyfriend – something not named but developed. The house is a symbol of the psyche of the dreamer a very important image (see house dreams) (see quadruplets)
I had a dream where there was a little girl holding a baby crying. I looked at her face and couldn’t see it was just blank then I went to look at the baby’s face and it was like demon like and dropped it’s jaw had sharp teeth.eyes turnt a yellow color with black circles around the eyes. Was in a wrickity old house gloomy no sun water on the floor past the ankles
Unless you didnt watch a horror movie recently the crying baby and the little girl might be a representation of you. Development relating to your “inner child” or inner development. Haunted houses are often symbols of distortions in your psyche (see house dreams) as each floor contains clues.
I had my son 3 months early, he was born 5 days after my birthday. He only lived for 3 days. Yes it was hard and it hurt. He passed away right in my arms while being baptized. Shortly after I was able to go home I started having these dreams of rebirthing him, but the only difference was is he was healthy and lived longer than 3 days. I had my Baby back again, but once I woke up and looked around my baby was no longer there. I’ve had this same dream quite a bit. still to this… Read more »
Hello Sierra sorry to hear about your son that must have been a horrible experience. Would you be able to provide me with as much detail about your dream as possible. I find when a dream reoccurs like this something still remains unconscious with you. Now due to such a traumatic experience a lot of emotions/feelings/memories might be still affecting you, sort of like PTSD. Dreams like to use metaphoric images to send us messages but I would need to know more about the dream to try taking a shot at it. Do you have repressed feelings of guilt? Do… Read more »
Two days ago i dreamt i was picking this sweet chubby very white baby girl from the floor after holding her for some time I hand her over to somebody else
then again last night I dreamt i was delivering twins one of them was already on my chest while i was still delivering the other one . I know i was happy holding the baby and i am past the age of babies. Can anyone explain please
Sounds like a very positive dream. The chest might be related to your heart with something in twos hence twins. Babies come for many different reasons and never really implying a baby. This is something you will deliver (metaphorically speaking)..
I Just had a Dream, woked up afraid and distressed. I dreamt that I had realized I had forgotten to feed the baby all day.. So I rush to the kitchen and say I will feed it pancakes. As I grabbing pots and pans, I find my self in the bathroom I had the need to Pee. As I’m washing my hands I see the Baby wonder outside crawling. I call out to it. As I’m finishing I run out to get the baby. And I come upon a Big tree branch which has fallen on the Road. I got… Read more »
I just dreamt of having a baby but I didn’t physically have her and my husband was coming home with her cause we just got married too (mind you we’ve been married for almost 5 years now) again I don’t remember seeing us getting married in my dream not having a baby. When he got home it was my ex husband but it was suppose to be my husband? Very weird. My mother who had passed away a little over a year ago was at the house with me and my sisters and my sister in law as we were… Read more »
Babies tend to be symbols of new personal growth. What makes this interesting is the fact you mother appeared. Maybe the its represents the “mother” in you. Could this relate to feelings of having a baby and becoming a mother? Though your ex shows up as a possible past memory or perhaps the old you that has change. Babies are commonly known to be a birth/rebirth that was unconscious before and now is alive (conscious).
Good to know. My husband has been away in a alcohol rehab and will be home soon. He will be gone for a total of 30 days. I wonder if this has anything to do with my dream. I’ve been worried about how well he will do when he returns back home.
Sorry to hear about his condition. Its quite possible that the baby represents new growth. Maybe your mom is actually watching down knowing. Your ex might be a represetion of your “old husband” as a metaphor. I hope this is the case too. Only time will tell. Good luck!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
I don’t even know how to explain it really. My memory knew in this dream that a baby, my sister’s baby, had been laid down on the floor in my room days ago. So we have been walking over an infant for days. The whole family like it was a pile of laundry or something. Well I look down and finally become aware of the baby and he is dying obviously because of lack of everything-food, water, love!! So I grab him and take him into the bathroom and start dropping water on his lips. It ended with me continuing… Read more »
Do you think this has to do with emotional nourishment? Water is commonly a symbol that represents “emotional states”, something that might be unconscious to you.
I had a dream this morning. I think I was in a strange house in a closet of sort. I was hiding with someone’s baby, I think that person wanted me to protect the baby. She didn’t cry, and she just fell asleep beside me as I was laying down as well trying to be quiet. That’s all I remember. I’m not sure what it means, but I do believe it’s a good omen.
The strange house might relate to a structure (mind/psyche) as the closest is something that is hidden or closed off (unconscious). It might make you want to explore your inner child as it might have come out of hiding. You are now in the process of protecting her, which is essentially you. This girl might have been who you were in the past, the part of you that has closed off and is hiding. I think this is a good dream as you are protecting her, however you are trying to quite (clue) relating to why she was in the… Read more »
What does it mean when i dream of a baby crying in the distance
It might relate to your inner child. Do you have more detail about the dream?
