When babies emerge in your dreams they can be considered very symbolic containing a hidden message about yourself. Unfortunately dreaming of a dead baby reflects endings, failing and losses in ones life.
These common dreams tend to shake us up for the rest of the day leaving us with an unsettled feeling in our stomach. Despite its graphic or disturbing nature, once you identify what the dead baby represents in your dream it will serve as a benefit to you. Though you will need to bring a metaphoric shovel because we are about to do some digging.
Dying Baby Dream Meaning
Dreams have an incredibility ability to bring things to our attention we are not consciously aware of in our walking life. This dream in particular has purposely selected the image of a “dead baby“ to relate something that is unconscious to you.
The Benefits Of Death In Dreams
So what exactly could that be? Since the baby develops inside the womb this would mirror something that was developing (within) for some time. By reflecting on failed opportunities, ideas, plans, or relationships in your life might help identify this problem. Alternatively, the image of the dead baby in your dream might relate to a emotional and psychological trauma caused from past experiences – the child in you is unable to grow and mature properly.
Common Dead Baby Dreams
- Dead baby in a coffin.
- I’m pregnant and dreaming of my baby dying.
- My dead mother having a baby.
- Dead baby coming back to life.
- Baby dying in my arms.
- Dreaming dead twin babies.
Pregnant & Dreaming Of Dead Baby
As horrifying as these dreams may be they are very common relating to fears of the worst happening (pregnant dreams). These feelings or thoughts of worry might not be expressed in your life and it is coming out in your dream.
Dead Baby Dreams: The Inner Child
In popular psychology and analytical psychology the term inner child refers to the invisible child in every adult. Essentially this child becomes lost or frozen in time due to his or her past childhood traumatic experiences. Could you be struggling with upsetting emotions, memories, and anxiety that won’t go away?
The fact is that the majority of so-called adults are not truly adults at all. They just got old. Anybody can do that. Though this child still remains trapped in the mind of the adult and that will cause a tantrum if neglected long enough. Essentially the child is crying out for your attention wanting you to recuse them for you to live a more full filled life.
Inner Child Dying Signs
- Refusal to become an adult.
- Constant dependence on others, need to be babied.
- Self criticism myself for being inadequate.
- I feel inadequate as a man or woman.
Dead Babies Coming Back To Life Dream
To dream of a baby coming back to life is a very positive omen connecting you to a rebirth or sudden change in your life. This can be related to events, relationships, plans, or a reconnection with your inner child. The location and events that lead to the baby coming back to life provide you with clues.
Are You Experiencing Unusual Baby Dreams?
Dead Twin Babies Dream
Dreaming about dead twin babies could be a metaphoric meaning relating to an ending in two’s, two things, a set, multiple in your life. The image of the dying twins could draw your attention to the unconscious masculine and feminine energy.
Dreams of a dead baby in a toilet focus on failed and stagnated issues. Toilets are synonymous with ‘letting go’ of what has been held inside.
What does it mean when u dreaming of a baby
I woken up from a dream about me being so happy I had a beautiful baby infant tinny and he was the joy of my life. Then suddenly while I was changing his nappy he died.
I was so heartbroken woke up crying. Very very disturbing.
Dreamt that a woman wanted to give up her baby so they took it out, tried to re-inserted into another mothers womb and the baby died. Mean while I’m in a wheelchair unable to move asking my mom “why are humans like this?! Just keep the baby who cares if it came out of your womb or not”
I just had a dream. (I am pregnant) I was responsible for 2 little babies. One was premature the other a normal size but both newborns.. We were at a gymnasium and I gave the 2 babies to another child to hold while I was about to call out to another child to offer to take that kid home too and the kid holding the babies dropped them slightly.. and blood was dripping from their tiny little bodies..I called for an ambo but my dream skipped to their gravestones they both died. I woke up crying.
I just woke up from a dream where shortly after my ex-boyfriend (in the dream he was my current boyfriend) broke up with me for someone else (which didn’t happen in our real timeline.) Then, I walk downstairs in my parents’ house and I see my mom sitting in the dining room cradling the baby she just had given birth to maybe a day ago in the dream. It was dead and appeared lifeless and blue. She was sobbing about her baby that passed. I remember telling her I was “so, so sorry.” Definitely spooked. :/
My dog, Ali, had just passed away yesterday. My dream was about a gathering of friends and I had left my baby in the lounge with everyone else while I was talking to a friend out the back door while she had a smoke. In this dream, my dog Ali was alive and well (she was actually very ill and in pain why she had to get put down) and we believed it was because our other dog, Indie had passed away instead and rejuvenated Ali’s life. Anyways that was a joy to see and as I look over to… Read more »
The dream I had about the dead baby
It was like I was dissociating in my dream about taking care of a dead baby in my dark bedroom
But then the baby vanish and I was crying hysterical bc it wasn’t real and I realized I was just dissociating.
I saw a dream where one babe pooped and i was taking him to the toilet he was very small might be just born and then he slipped from my hand and he fell inside the toilet i tried pulling him and i couldn’t even touch him, i thought he died and waked up in fear.
I had a deeply unsettling dream involving the death of an infant last night. It involved a doctor in a dimly lit delivery delivery room, and he dropped the baby and upon impact it exploded. I was restless the rest of the night, and have never a had a dream like this in my entire life. I am male and have never had such a dream. In the dream there was audio of me on the phone telling my mother “the baby died”. There were also flashes of a news report talking about the death.
What is your relationship like with your mother? I ask because the phone might be a symbol of an unconscious communication between you to; the child being you related to development. However it could be something else. Doctors are known as healers; see doctor in search bar.
Just woke from a dream where I was told my my new born wasn’t going to live more than a few hours. They were even given something to help they pass away less painfully and I just held on the my baby everyday not giving up then body went limp for a bit n came back to life
Seems to do with letting go of you past; related to some growth that failed.
lats night i dreamt i was pregnant with triplets and i was so happy, then i couldnt feel them move anymore and i was told they had died inside of me, i kept holding my stomach and pleading for help, no one help, i leaned againt the wall touched my stomach and screamed and sobbed, i woke up crying and still cant get through the day
Remember your stomach points towards your intuition so that might be a play here. What is something that is dead inside you at the moment; relates to growth that you no longer feel.
thank you
I just woke up from dream where my son (2) was playing with me and someone, who is think was supposed to be my husband but I am not sure who’s face I saw, outside of our house on the front lawn. He might be too old to be considered a true baby but he is still my baby to me. Anyways, my son had to go to the washroom by himself for some reason and he also had to follow a path near a cliff above our house to reach the washrooms. I let him go alone and I… Read more »
The cliff as a wider view of life, an overview, one which includes death. It is shown as the uphill struggle in life, looking back or down. Or maybe you feel on edge with some aspect with him or your husband. Smoke is a negative symbol and if he follows something negative that leads back to the parents. Washrooms also hint at letting go of something that may have happened in the past. Death can be seen as endings or change you are picking up on. Read: benefits of dying.
I had a dream I was feeding a baby girl in her high chair . I don’t remember exactly what past ex was with me but the baby choked on whatever he gave me to feed her and her head was limp and appeared dead I panicked and was trying to tell him to help me but I woke up gasping for air.
I dk if I have sleep apnea but I recently have some inflammation in my lungs but also gained a lot of weight.
Was this dream due to my health or did it mean something else ?
The girl you are feeding is in fact you. We recently did an article about why we dream of our exs because it happens more than you think. In fact it has more to do with you trying to resolve the past or the old part of you as opposed to them. So your dream is hinting at this and wants you to find some inner peace so you can fully move on. Read the article in the search bar: Ex So there seems to be some damage that stopped your growth from your past.
I’ve never had a baby before. But in this dream I fall pregnant and I’m sooooo excited, everyone around me is so happy. I have twins, the birth is difficult but goes smoothish. The babies are big babies for their age. I am so happy calling everyone and telling them and so excited for the future. I go into my research job at the hospital a few days after giving birth to the babies. I’m so tired I haven’t slept for 3 days. On my lunch break I go outside and all of outside is a water park and some… Read more »
To me the dream sounds like it reflects some sort of blocked or ending of something in your life; possibly linked to your work and future development. Usually when the babies drowned it tells you that this ending may have been neglected and due to this fact you became emotionally submerged with this issue. You are too young to get it and something in twos is gone. What could this be?
I’ve been in a nomans land for a while. I had a lifelong dream of being a Dr and lately I’ve been feeling like it isn’t going to happen/isn’t right for me. I’m no sure where my career is going. Also I’ve been questioning whether to stay in my relationship and keep my two cats or give them to my parents for a bit to travel and be single. Do you think this is related?
I just had a dream last night, someone I can’t make out in real life seemed close to me in my dream, a young girl and she came with a baby. The setting seemed like my grandma’s house and my sisters were present. I asked to hold the baby and she let me, she told me that the baby had some problems and I should be careful but it only starts when I kiss the baby on the head. My curiosity led me to kiss the baby and the baby fell from my arms and started shaking/banging it’s head on… Read more »
The young girl is acutely you and it points to your own inner child that needs to be rescued. Once you do the growth will develop and now die. See inner child in search bar.
I had a dream last night.. in my dream i had a 3 days old baby and he suddenly died after 3 days..
Seems to be an ending related to something that was now going to take off or develop within you.
I dreamt that I ran into an ex-flame whom I apparently had a daughter with, and when I bumped into him, I apparently had left the daughter with him shortly after giving birth. However, the baby I saw was a dead shrivelled up corpse (rather gory), and apparently the baby died in her sleep at 7 months old while holding onto her father’s finger.
What could it possibly mean?
The baby might have been you or growth that halted to do some trauma from your ex flame.
I just had a dream/nightmare in which I insisted on holding my nephew (1 yr old) as my family left a place. I was wearing heels and trying to walk down very rough stone steps. I was holding him at my center, facing out. I suddenly stumbled and he flew out of my arms, head first into a cardboard box in a low level/pit. He was dead. I ran down the rest of the steps and faced my family in horror. My sister-in-law looked in the box. I woke up just as she was about to scream. What might that… Read more »
The first part of the dream is interesting to me because you “insisted” in holding him up. Now I think you can break this down metaphorically and possibly reflect in what ways you try and hold him up but fail. In our dreams steps are very symbolic (see climbing) depending if you are ascending or descending; your progress seems to be challenged in some way. You might lack stability or proper grounding. When you are off balanced he should fall out of your grip. As you are running down he goes in a box — Read article “box” in the… Read more »
I occasionally have dreams of my son I lost at 3 days, he was 3 months premature, he would be 40 years old, I had a dream last night, and in it I was fighting with the father saying I never got a I am sorry I love you nothing
What does this mean, why am I dreaming about this now, I woke up in tears
Could be a repressed memory or unconscious emotion trapped. Can you clarify this part “was fighting with the father saying I never got a I am sorry I love you nothing”. Fighting might be your own internal fight that you are trying to figure out. Tell me about the father.
Thank you , it’s hard to explain , I didn’t see his face, however, I felt I was arguing with second husband, not the father of my son
Could I have unresolved emotions between the two?
The father of my son I do not have a relationship with, our marriage was not a good one, he did not support or comfort me in any manner,,however I have a good relationship with my second husband who remains a good friend
We have a child together and now a granddaughter, we get along well
Well I haven’t gotten a reply back, that’s okay, thanks again
Sorry Katherine, sometimes we get too many dreams at once and I overlook them.
Not being able to see the face might hint at being unconscious to you. But what? Its quite possible that the repressed emotion is anger towards him – his inability to show empathy for you in a time of need. If the dream continues try and write down your feelings towards him on a piece of paper. Sometimes this helps pull out these hidden feelings.
My dream of a baby dying was really disturbing! I do NOT want to have that dream again
I understand. Tell me more about the dream.
