Moon Dreams: Emotional Changes
In astrology the moon is associated with the emotional body, providing us with moodiness, happiness and fulfillment. The moon and emotions have played a huge part in superstition which many still believe that affects people’s emotions and behaviors.
Since our bodies are made up of mostly water, the moon in our dream becomes a powerful symbol of something that is pulling our energy towards the source. Similar to the tide being pulled and pushed the moon is in charge of these emotional shifts in our live.
Dreams of the moon can symbolize the magnetic pull that is bringing emotions to the surface. These are unconscious (feminine) emotions that need to be accepted within oneself.
Like the symbol of the yin and yang there needs to be balance of energy to live in harmony. The full moon might imply changes of behaviors, moodiness and tiredness.
Luna: The Mother Goddess
The moon is the female (feminine) counterpart of the sun (masculine) – relates to the androgynous nature of the psyche. In ancient Roman religion and myth, Luna, or in Greek mythology Selene; is the divine personification of the Moon.
Once her powers are awaken, becoming conscious to the dreamer; there will be an increase of creativity, intuition and psychic power. These thoughts, feelings and emotions manifest unconsciously through the night – hence being associated with the moon.
From a psychological stand point the moon might imply the man’s inner woman or the anima – the female within the male. If the relationship is distorted or distant, the context of the dream might be a nightmarish setting.
With no connection to his feminine side he will feel depressed, dull and neurotic. However, a man who is conscious of the relationship becomes full of life, as he illuminates like the sun off the moon.
In astrological terms the moon symbolizes the inner self, the emotions, security, and the unconscious. It is a mirror of the true self, represented by the Sun. Offering protection as it circles around the sun sending you light.
Crescent Moon Dreams: Virgin Mary
In the Christian text shows the Virgin Mary enthroned on the lunar or sickle moon. The moon has always been represented as the symbol of Mary, as she provides and reflects the light of the sun (Christ). A biblical symbol of fertility, rebirth and divine epiphanies.
The Biblical meaning of the moon in our dream explains that the moon was created to give light to the Earth. In your dream this might be hinting at a closer connection with God as he is closer with you during the darker times.
In Genesis 1:16-17 (Bible Moon) – “God made two great lights, the sun and the moon, to shine down upon the earth. He also made the stars. God sent these lights in the heavens to light the earth.” Rev. 12:1 who has the “moon under her feet”.

I saw a red moon in my dream, before sleeping I was very scared for my husband, then in dream i saw red moon. What is it?
I had a dream about 2 weeks ago and in my dream the the moon flew by very fast in the sky and the moon was red. I knew something was wrong so I turned to my friend and asked him if he had just seen that. He said “that’s not the moon, that’s Lima. It’s been around for the last few months. How did you only notice it now?” I instantly woke up and wondered what the hell was Lima? I’d never heard that word in my life before I heard it in my dream. So I searched Google… Read more »
Hello! Last night I had a dream of a full moon with no brightness one below that was a little bright in the centre but not by much and then one egg-shaped moon that was the height of the Other two moons and had a light yellow shade. I remember going to the moon that was a little bright after my mum said that you can’t see the earth’s features on it. And so holding it in my hand and a map in my other hand, and seeing that the moon indeed had the image of earths geographical features imprinted… Read more »
I had a dream that I keep remembering where I was spending time with someone I’m interested in. Everything seemed out of place. I didn’t know where I was and it wasn’t what we usually do. He walks over to the glass doors to tell me that the moon just turned red. I watched it with him and consciously told myself “another red moon?” and saw a symbol of Aries, I believe, and then this humanoid Ram creature dressed in red noble clothes with a staff appeared before him. I was standing near his mom, while the creature told him… Read more »
During my dream, I was with who seemed to be co-workers (but they were not anyone I recognized in real life). One of them pointed to the sky and asked if I could see what was up there. I first noticed a full moon and told him how pretty it looked. But then he pointed out and told me to look again. At that point, there were several moons. At first, I saw about 3 different moons. Later, I was sitting on some sort of stadium-like stairs with a group of people. To my far right was my boyfriend (only… Read more »

In my dream I came outside with my little brother and the moon was burning and some pieces of the moon were falling to the ground. So I led my brother inside the house and I looked up at the moon again. Then saw that the moon have grown again. Oh and the fire from the moon didn’t harm any of us. Those burning pieces of the moon fell o my brother but nothing happened.
I just had a dream that I was with friends. The moon started moving and all of a sudden, it started swinging from side to side and I could see that it was fake because it was hanging from a rope. I had this feeling that something was very wrong. And then all of a sudden it exploded! And this crew came out and started cleaning it up. I look over and one of my girlfriends was getting her period, out in the open and she was squatting down and cleaning it up in front of all of us. What… Read more »
It seems to be connected with your swaying emotional state or hers. The rope as well can be seen as the tampon string. Cleaning up is a good symbol.
Thank you!
What does it mean when the full has an immensely large gaping fiery hole in it? It was so eerie like Hades was shooting fire from the center of it
It seems you need to go into the underworld to find it; unconscious part of you to find this inner imbalance within the feminine energy. Might be related to your father. See circle and fire in the search bar.
What do it mean to watch a missile being shot at the moon, then the moon going dark, then the world going dark.
Could be many things. Would you be able to provide me us with more information? Missiles could be phallic or directed attack – the moon going dark needs light (see sun). Perhaps some inbalance of your energy. See yin and yang.
Dreamt of a full bright moon having clock hands on it, with a few roman numbers labels. Meaning please?
Not sure. I would need more information to decode. However, the circular motion of the clock combined with time tells you something very important to do with time and completion. See circle in search bar.
Ahm, not sure what more details I could provide. I happen to post whatever I could try and recall. Checked circle meaning and couldn’t possibly reach a specific conclusion. It was a full bright moon, clear sky, the moon was closer than it usually is in the sky. So not very huge, just a little bigger in size than we normally see. It strangely had a clock prints of 12-6, 9-3 (can’t remember all numbers but had numerals for sure) written in roman form strangely. I don’t remember what time it displayed. Can’t also remember if it was ticking or… Read more »
Numbers are a really hard symbol to decode. The color however that you described tells you that this is unconscious to you. It is a full moon right now so I am not sure if you are picking up on something. The circle seems to be telling you that you are reaching some sort of fullness or completion. Though I really need a lot more info to decode.
Good morning. So nice to be here. And thank you for this page. I love staring at the moon.
I dreamt of a 3 different moon. A beautiful red, orange moon. A close up moon and a full moon. Thank you for your response.
Evelyn
Good morning Evelyn. Very symbolic colors and a nice dream. Some might think that these colors are related to the chakras (see chakra in search bar). The dream seems to do with your inner energies and the full moon tells you about some sort of completion taking place (see circle).
Last night I had a dream that I was spending time with my mother and I looked behind her and there was a moon that was so huge it looked fake and I said to her wow look at the moon and she turned around and was like yes I know. Later in the dream I was telling her to stop being such a perfectionist in life and she accidentally fell into a lake. Weird dream! I am super close with my mom so it spooked me
The mother and the moon go hand in hand, so this dream seems to contain unconscous elements within your relationship that has affected you. This seems to be represented here “I was telling her to stop being such a perfectionist in life and she accidentally fell into a lake”.. She has submerged within the unconscious emotional depths. Your dream is telling you to go in after her in the depths of your mind (water being a metaphor) to understand the hidden parts of yourself.
Wow thank you. I think that’s spot on
Glad to hear!
Today morning I dreamt that I was traveling in a vehicle and then I saw a beautiful full moon which had risen up in the sky. It was evening. I made the driver stop the vehicle because I wanted to capture its picture in my camera. And then I woke up.
Coincidentally, it is actually a full moon today.
Sounds like a nice dream. Could it be a coincidence or related to a new phase in your life? Usually when we are trying to capture this memory or image it becomes symbolic. I would say just pay attention to any new things that might unfold in your life.
Thank you for the guidance☺ I will surely pay attention to stuff in my life..lots of new things have happened with me recently. Some really beautiful and some really ugly
You are most welcome.
I dreamt that we were anticipating of a rare phonemenon that the full moon will be so bright and clear. When it finally revealed itself from behind the cloud, we were astonished as it was so beautifully bright and clear. We tried taking a picture but it suddenly moved to the left behind the clouds until it was gone. Few seconds later the moon turned a person to mingle with us. We were not terrified. Instead we were excited taking pictures together. The person was not clear if it was a man or a woman. But we knew it was… Read more »
This is an interesting dream. The fact you couldn’t make out if it was a man or women it might represent a balance of these opposites within (see yin & yang in the search bar). It seems that something within the feminine is distorted based off of the last symbol.
I dreamt I saw I’ve moons 1- full super blood moon big and beautiful than 4 others showed up in the stars beside it much smaller but also pretty. 3 were full moons and two were a cresent and new moon. I had everyone go outside so I could bask in the moonlight. I had a moon dream last night too. I dreamt I saw a super blood moon. Very pretty and up close. Can someone help me figure out what this means? I also drank this water it could’ve been moon water but I didn’t drink the supermoons water.
Seems like a very positive dream. Blood often connects to the vital life force of the dreamer, perhaps drinking this may have influenced your dream. The dream seems to signify changes that might be related to the feminine or emotional unconsciousness.
I dreamt of seeing two full moons near the horizon though it’s not nighttime. The sky was more like a pinkish/purplish color and I’m watching how the two moons seemingly get closer to each other but they didn’t. What does that suppose to mean? Few weeks/months ago I also saw a crescent moon recurring in my dreams every night, but not consecutively though. And now two full moons? I’m confused, really.
The dream could be pointing you towards decisions or perhaps an indecision about something in your life that will reflect relationships, conflicting sides of yourself, choices or changes that are emerging. The fact that is is getting closer seems to me like a metaphorical clue.
well, i was standing near my house and when i gazed in the southern sky i saw a beautiful blue tinted full moon. as i was mesmarized at its beauty suddenly other moon appeared. one two three four five ! i was astonished oh my god! what is happening? then again i see the whole lunar analemma! it stated to rotate about its center ad i was astonished to see the whole spinning lunar analemma.
Very positive dream. Search Yin and Yang energy in the search bar for more details. It seems you are in accordance of the yin flow.
I dreamt i was standing in my compound, and above me, was a white full moon in the blue sky. i was so mesmerized. it was close to me, tho, not too close. soon, before me, was a larger moon. it was pink. this was very close, n i could see it full moon shape filled with some sparkles and lights in it. this moon went on to take other colors like yellow and orange. i was so excited, n started taking pictures with my cell phone. soon, the moon became sooo large, soo close that i could touch it.… Read more »
Interesting. It seems very symbolic that might be pointing to your chakras (yellow/orange); the spinning disc that is now opening within. (See chakra dreams)
