The alligator and crocodiles have seen you long before you have noticed its presence. Sometimes you might get away, and other times it might be too late. So what makes crocodiles such a dangerous force in our dreams?

Whenever the dreamer spots these cold blooded creatures lurking in the waters they emerge as a warning or potential threat that you might encounter. Though sometimes this so called perceived threat actually belongs to the dreamers unconscious fears, hidden danger, anxieties that waits to attack them unexpectedly. Alligators and Crocodiles are interchangeable in dreams, meaning they both possess ruthless characteristics with minor differences between them.

What we do know is that these are images of dangerous behaviors, instincts or uncontrollable urges that remains outside out field of awareness to the dreamer. Its connection to a swamp or murky waters tells us that this is hinting at targeting the emotional state of the dreamer.

The main objective would be for the dreamer to find this unconscious threat to make it conscious to they can protect themselves.

Alternatively, these so called threats might in fact belong to the shadow side of the dreamer – that dark side of the personality that is hidden. Often times you might even dream of a crocodile eating someone that could reflect these traits – or – reflects a situation where someone is taken down.

Crocodile Chasing In Dream

Usually when we are being chased or running away in our dreams implies this is problem that you are avoiding. But why an alligator? The image becomes a metaphoric clue relating to a powerful and destructive force that has the ability to pull you down into the waters (emotions). What can this be exactly? Alligators and crocodiles are notoriously known for lurking near the land, patiently waiting for their prey to come to them. Their stalking abilities can mirror malicious people or sociopaths that are wanting to drag you down, relating friends, work, family members, or people you are involved with emotionally.

Sociopaths to seduce and ingratiate themselves with the people around them for their own gain or for their own entertainment. Once they sink their teeth into you it would be hard to get out of there grip. They might be openly violent and aggressive with little or no regard for who they take down.

They prey on the weak and vulnerable, spotting your agreeable nature as it waits to pounce. The eyes of a reptile are as cold that show a lack of emotion just as you would notice in sociopaths. Eyes are the gateway to the soul.

The Shadow: Our Dark Side

Alternately, the cunning and vicious nature of alligators or crocodiles could just simply be you.  According to Carl Jung’s analytic psychology, the shadow archetype represents “SHADOW SIDE” of your personality.

Stored in the unconscious lives your repressed ideas, idiosyncrasies, instincts and weaknesses. If your impulses are causing destruction to you and others then you would need to do ‘SHADOW WORK’ to integrate these qualities.

You will need to integrate these hidden aspects about yourself and make them conscious. Knowing that all humans possess these traits bringing them to the light can pull you out of darkness.

You can use the symbol of these reptiles to sharpen your skills, become less agreeable or learn to control your shadow qualities. They encourage us to explore the deep murky waters of the unknown aspects of our emotions. Once you are able to bring these dark aspects towards the light they are no longer a threat.

Types Of Crocodile Dreams

Bites or being bitten on the hand represents someone who you may have helped that has attacked you. Legs would suggests your progress in life to move forward.

Noticing others being attacked might point out the dangers that surround them and you are aware. If you notice an crocodile attacking an animal it relates to instincts are under threat. If a cat was being attacked it might be connected with the feminine instincts, whereas a dog relates to your natural instincts.

If you noticed someone being eaten by a crocodile can direct your attention to who might be vulnerable in life. The location of the attack and qualities that the person mimics gives  you a clue on who it might be.

I had a dream where it attacked a child and i went down to the area I heard the child crying and spotted the croc. it started to growl and crawl towards me and I couldn’t pull myself to climb up.. guess my inner child is in danger and I can’t run away from my problem..

I loved the video. I have dreams about this all the time, however I do have a sociopath for a boss so that might be the reason. It will come out when you least expect and try and grab you down to the swamp. I noticed it takes others instead of me, maybe because I am less agreeable than the others at work. Once I remember tackling and rolling with it and stabbing it in the eye as i was fighting for my life.
