Dream Interpretation

Dreams have caused a lot of confusion and bewildered human beings ever since the times of earlier civilizations. Dreams were once believed to only be interpreted by people who had special influence and powers in primeval civilizations because the symbols where said to be supernatural, holy and divine messages from a higher power.  Fast forward now to the 21 century and you will see an vast improvement when it comes to interpreting dreams thanks to a famous psychiatrist called Carl Gustav Jung who changed the way we dream forever.

They say that you are your own best interpreter when it comes to decoding your own dreams. Members in our dream community will help you shed light one the metaphors and symbolism behind your dreams.

Carl Jung Dream Quote

“The dream is the small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul, which opens to that primeval cosmic night that was soul long before there was conscious ego and will be soul far beyond what a conscious ego could ever reach’.

Why Interpret your dreams? Why not!  What do you have to lose other than to gain inner perspective within yourself. Don’t ignore or be afraid to challenge whats locked away deep in your unconscious mind, understanding and knowing it can be very rewarding.

Dream symbols come in all shapes, colors and feeling, some scare us, and others make us feel like we got a taste of heaven.  Dream and the symbols in them have been around since the beginning of time and will keep occurring as long as humans will be in existence so there must be a reason on why we get them.

Take away your blinders and start paying attention to the little detail you may have overlooked in your dreams and see what you might come up with.  Whenever our body is infected by a virus or a bacteria, the rising level of fever is a natural process. No conscious decision is needed to re-establish the body’s balance.

The same system works in our psyche. In times when we are out of balance with our natural pattern of life, our subconscious sends us dreams and visions that are created by our inner self.  Dream Interpretation is not as easy as opening up a dictionary and having your dream symbols answered right in front of your eyes.

All symbols are unique to the dreamer and some symbols might mean something to one but different to another.  This is why we recommend you start writing down your dreams in a dream journal and remembering the events, people and emotional feelings you have during this time.

Dream symbols come across as metaphors via the unconscious and its up to you to have an open mind and puzzle together the symbols you just received in your dream.

In order to interpret your dream symbol you must recognize that all dream symbols are not the same for every individual.  A train to one dreamer might mean a totally different representation to another.

When we dream there are no barriers. The past, present and future is all one in the unconscious mind. There are infinite possibilities in the dream world, you can learn to connect and be in tune with those you are close with or are somewhat connected with you. We all have the ability to dream and do so every night, just taking ten minutes to write down our dreams would lead us to knowledge that could help us excel in all areas of our life.

A dream dictionary provides a wide vocabulary of words that we could use to interpret the images in our dreams that our unconscious uses to represent our waking life.

Dream Interpretations A – Z

Thousands of dreams and symbols interpreted from our very interactive forum to our A – Z dictionary.  They usually include very common images that are close in meaning with interpretations to the puns that the mind plays. Although dream dictionaries are generally not regarded within the psychology community as scientifically viable, the dictionaries have provided a lot of help in interpreting our dreams even by most psychologists.

The art of dream interpretation has been considered part of science distinctively in psychology since the 19th century. There were dream symbols from the days that dreaming was not considered scientific which is why dream interpretations vary in different cultures. This lead to the investigation of forms, expressions, symbols and images involved in dreaming.  The thing is the mind surprisingly remembers every single image and tends to jumble words and images together.

The dictionary offers translations by the dream analysts. It was first started by Sigmund Freud who unraveled a lot of the mysteries involved with dreaming.  He developed the dream dictionary so that people could look for the images found in their dreams in order to relate it to their waking life situations.

Most Common Dreams:

Dreams have fascinated people since the beginning of time; yet we are still trying to come up with its true purpose. Dream symbols are enigmatic in nature depending the culture background, religion and personal experiences.

A snake for example might come across as an enemy for some, however in many different cultures the snake might be a representation of energy rising. If you notice the snake eating its tail brings your attention to the uroborus; the symbol of personal transformation.

Strange Occurrence During Sleep:

If you thought your dreams where strange, it gets a bit stranger. Common hallucinations called sleep paralysis happen just before we walk up or just falling right to sleep. These strange feelings are classified under Hypnopompic hallucinations (HPHs) are visual and auditory (e.g., feeling someone or something present in the room; witch on your back; being unable to breath, seeing flashes; hearing voices being called)  Believe it or not they are quite normal and happens to many people.

Outer Body Experiences are another strange phenomenon in which a person seems to perceive the world from a location outside their physical body. The sensation might be equivalent standing right beside an airplane ready for take off, shaking or noticing flashes as they are ready to depart.

Sleepwalking falls under another strange category of dreaming that is characterized by a complex action behavior (walking) during sleep. Occasionally, the person may talk, but it does not make sense.

Commonly known as exploding head syndrome phenomenon which consists of a loud bang just before you fall asleep and upon waking. This strange occurrence happens to at least 14% of the population that feels like a violent explosion that has erupted in your head.

Hollywood Popular Dream Movies

Hollywood has glamorized dreams as a main premise for movies. Many others directors use dreams to bring omens to come in the near future. The movie Exorcist used a dream sequence to signify future events. We used this dream and dissected all the symbolism in Father Karris dream.

 Psychic or Precognition Dreams:

Once you learn the forgotten language of dreaming and its symbols you will notice a very strange sequence of patterns. Having an open mind helps bring the outside world closer to the inside world; synchronicity and other meaningful events will start to occur. You may dream of dead relatives sending you love from beyond; or they give you hints of people with malicious intent out to get you.

Dream Journal/Remembering Your Dreams:

People who say they dont remember their dreams do not try hard enough to remember them. You lose up to 90% of dream recall the first minute you wake up. Like going to the gym to get bigger you need to strengthen your muscle. This same concept applies to dreaming; however you need to strengthen your dream memory muscle. You will notice the more you practice the more contents and symbols you will remember.  There are many benefits to remembering your dreams as it acts as a guide moving you towards wholeness.

  • A free psychologist
  • A guide to become compete/whole
  • Warnings of dangerous people
  • It will open more spiritual doors
  • You are able to fix past problems
  • Helps encourage you to be the best, get closer to the self

The Shadow:

According to Carl Jung’s analytic psychology, the shadow archetype represents “the dark side” of your personality. Stored in the unconscious lives your repressed ideas, idiosyncrasies, instincts and weaknesses.  The shadow molds out of our attempts to adapt and to be accepted into the world we live in, once you go head to head with the shadow it becomes weak – it will no longer possess you. The shadow appears in your dreams in many different forms bringing light despite how scary it is for you to fix this issue.

In my dream, I was eating live mice. I came to a realization of what I was doing and was disgusted. I spit out a mouse. It was still partly alive and suffering. I questioned whether I should stomp on it to put it out of its misery, but I didn’t want to kill it. And I woke up.

I dreamed that I was marrying my classmate who dated my cousin long ago. I went to my grandmother’s house to get dressed (who’s deceased) and she insisted that I try some thick syrup like drink she’d made. I keep telling her I didn’t have time & I had an less than 2 hours to get dressed & go to the wedding. My fiancé and I went to a drive through restaurant and changed into a totally different person-even race. I realized in the car 1 hour before the wedding I only had the skirt to my wedding dress &… Read more »

I had a dream, my husband brought me a house that looked nice on the outside. We entered in the living room with little furniture and went down one level to the kitchen (it was a mess, appliances everywhere, broken wood flooring and oil dripping from the microwave). Outside in the rear there was a hole in the grass in an L shape (in-gourd pool size) filled with water. Then an orange bearded dragon with a black leash walked by on the cabinet slowly but no one saw it but me. I think we made eye contact for a sec before… Read more »

My current dream has a Male that I don’t know other than this and another dream. I’m working at some food job. When I see him I’m excited and happy but hurt because he hasn’t been there in my dreams for a long time. He says something about we’ve been with other people and I reply “ya”. He becomes jealous after I say that. He gives me a similar meaningful hand made gift (in the first dream of this guy he also gives me something similar) its on something like paper and it has a pretty picture of me and… Read more »

In my dream, all I can really remember is an Army Jeep in pristine condition, and a Colonol telling me it came straight from the army. They ( whoever “they” were ) had come to me to give me some papers of some kind with my medical history on it.

I saw a pair of jeans belonging to a family member that had a melted shoe sole on the leg. I tried scraping it off but it wouldnt budge. Next I was in a building where there had been a fire – no flames just smoking images. Someone in the building saw me and said to follow her because i needed to change clothes before anyone saw me. She gave me a pink smock to wear. Next we were leaving the building and there were a bunch of teens standing around watching me ad I left.

I dreamed that I was suppose to take a coworker to the airport. When I met up with them I told them I knew a shortcut to the airport. Then they told me that I was the one that was supposed to go on the trip, not them and that they were taking me to the airport. It made me nervous because I wasn’t ready, I didn’t have anything packed and didn’t know if there was even a hotel ready. But we headed to the airport using my shortcut but instead she stopped at her friends house on the way.… Read more »

It seems that you may be given (or have) the gift of interpreting spirits, and the wooden icicles surround you as a form of protection from evil when exercising that gift.

The previous night I had a dream, yes a dream. I was somewhere i cant remember where, and suddenly I saw NYS guys like two of them who in my dreams I saw them as my juniors at work place. One had a power saw cutting something in a pool of water on a long stretch of a river he was standing in. I became concerned and I went near them. The guys continued cutting something in water using the power saw interchangeably. They left for while then I got out of my sleep. I saw it not important and… Read more »

There are real concerns regarding the direction of your life. If left unchecked, it may result in great isolation. I believe God is reaching out to you via the dream to bring you to a place where He can communicate with you, something that is not possible if you maintain the course you are on.

I had a very strange dream the other night and would like it translated. I was driving my car on the highway and I was coming off the on ramp, a cop stopped me and asked me for my licence. He said he was going to tow my car and asked me to get out. The car was towed and I had to go to the police station to get it back. When I got it back it was a different color and not what I was used to. I noticed that they had taken stuff out of my car… Read more »

I noticed that my life and experiences will not be the same as others. I love snakes and my dreams about them will be different than the rest. Many dream sites say the dangers of snakes, or energy rising. I know that being from India and elephant would be something different then to a westerner. From my own experience I think that the symbols in dreams are unique only for that person, and you will need to follow the events to come so you know its true purpose. Even Carl Jung interpretations would be different than my own experience, however… Read more »

I have been interpreting dreams for more than a decade and I agree with you. There are general ways of interpreting symbols, but as you correctly point out, each symbol has a metaphor within the context of the dream. If snakes do not have bad feelings associated with them, then the typical understanding of snakes being a metaphor for deceit (long tails=long tales, e.g. lies or gossip about you that may produce harm: a play on words), probably does not apply. Your feeling about the snake’s role in your dream would be an important aspect to include in the description.… Read more »

I interpret my dreams almost every night. It is the best thing ever! Today for example I had a dream early morning that my dog attacked another dog as it got off the leash. I vividly remember me running and trying to get her back and I did. So I was walking my 2 dogs when some dog came out of the house and attacked my dog. Wouldn’t you know but the leash fell out of my hands as I panicked and ran after the dogs. It played out exactly in my dream and literately a stones throw away from… Read more »

I keep having dreams of being stuck in the basement of my house. I cannot seem to find anyone or if anyone is home. I see a box containing old vcr movies from the 80’s. Then a flood happens and I am so afraid that I will drown. I run frantically as I feel there is a shadow behind me. It is a man but I cannot see his face he is holding a hammer.

There are generational issues that have persisted in your family line that have been kept secret for a long time. There is great fear of any attempt to uncover them, as exposing the truth may bring memories of bad events of the past that can overwhelm you and your relationship with your family. There is a spiritual aspect of this that is fomenting the fear, trying hard to prevent you from uncovering the truth. If this interpretation seems right, then I suggest it may be beneficial to seek out a spiritually-oriented relative, friend, or counselor who can be with you.… Read more »

I used to experiment with psychedelics back in the day and now my dreams are constantly involving symptoms of what i would have experienced if i was on those types of hallucinogens. Everything in my drams are constantly swirling and moving and everything looks like a giant kaleidoscope at times, but I understand everything that goes on. I tend to always do some sort or hallucinogen in my dreams and shortly after the effects (what i would expect in reality) come on very strong and quick in my dream. There was one where I looked up at the sky and… Read more »

I had a dream that I was in a school run by my mother. Everyone I knew from schooling was in it and we had designated spots for us to go, red for boys and yellow for girls. I was going to the red sofa after watching one boy bath, he was blonde with blue eyes, he didn’t leave the bathroom at all but were at the sofa before me. The boy I watch bath was sitting in his underwear only and mucking around with another boy. I sat down next to him as he put his shirt on. We… Read more »

You are faced with what seems to be an impossible situation concerning your boyfriend. Adults that you respect have provided guidance for what you should be looking for in life that is good. However, this highlights that there is an addictive or undesirable part of your boyfriend’s personality that feels like he gives a higher priority than you, and this part of him is supported by an unsavory friend – something you already suspect. Your instinct is to respond in anger, but, as the first part of the dream points out, if you look carefully, someone in your life has… Read more »

I dreamed that I was with my ex-husband (to whom I do not like) my ex’s mother (I don’t like her either) and my daughter was with me but she was a baby of 2 years old and something had gotten in her right eye and turned it white.
