Post Disturbing Nightmares for 4 years :/
on: December 4, 2012, 21:56

For the past for years i have had really bad nightmares everynight and i cant seem to make them stop. One of the most frequently reoccuring ones is i watch my family get murdered and bleed to death and i then drown in their blood. Another is that all of my self harm cuts and scars re open and i slowly bleed to death and i feel my body slowly shut down only to wake up when i die in my sleep. in others i dream that i cant talk and to save someone or help stop something from happening i have to talk and i cant so i watch them die to and i then wake up screaming. Can anyone help me figure out what they mean or how to stop them and could it just be a dream version of my usual hallucinations? , im scared to sleep now a days and its affecting my gcse exam results at school :/ someone please help

Hey welcome to dream dictionary and lets see if we can figure out what your nightmare means. What stood out to me was when you said

"Another is that all of my self harm cuts and scars re open and i slowly bleed to death".

The main symbol we should focus on is "re open". What emotions during this time you are having this dream are re opening? Are you fully healed?
Your next dream you said

"i cant talk and to save someone or help stop something from happening i have to talk and i cant so i watch them die"

Do you have trouble communicating in your life right now? Are you not expressing how you really feel to others?

BTW try looking at nightmares as a good thing sort of like your brain telling you to wake up and smell the coffee we need to fix an on going issue. Let me know if the analysis is right or wrong so we can figure out a next theory. Cheers.

Do you know anybody close to you where you can talk and they wouldn't judge you? Don't let things like this bottle up inside because it will only create more stress. The dream is a good thing because the first step is recognizing what issues are pent up and then learning how to deal with it. You said you are still self harming and depressed so I suggest you might what to see a specialist in that field that will guide you through this tough stage. The nightmares will continue until you learn how to face your fears head on. Good luck and if you need someone to you can always come back on this thread. Stay positive and be proactive about this on going problem.

You have to learn how to overcome your fear or else it will eat you alive everyday. Many people suffer from what is called Social Anxiety that can be treated with a trained professional in the field.
Maybe talking to another professional might give you more insight dealing with it. You are not alone in this but dont just sit down and push all your problems under a rug, get proactive and do what you have to do fix it.

Hi Scarlett, in my perspective, you must stop seeking help from so called professional therapists or use your own understanding or others to figure out your nightmares. The only help you need is a divine help. Yes, a divine help from Heaven. Why don't you try to pray to Jesus and ask Him to enlighten you in term of nightmares and your daily problems. According to what I've read about your nightmares, it seem to me that your soul is in danger and you need help from Jesus Christ. I used to have nightmares too when I was younger and I even saw a demon flying up my bed during my sleep and I knew it was a warning from God that if I don't turn myself to Him, my soul would be in grave danger. Us humans don't have any understanding over dreams but God has the power over everything and He can enlighten you. Sometimes nightmares and dreams could be a message from God or a warning. In your case, it's a warning.

@IminChrist you said "I used to have nightmares too when I was younger and I even saw a demon flying up my bed during my sleep and I knew it was a warning from God that if I don't turn myself". How do you know its was not a hypnagogic hallucination you had? Also why would you tell her not to get help from "so called" professional therapists? You sound like a "so called" religious person. Can you tell me where you read "According to what I've read about your nightmares, it seem to me that your soul is in danger and you need help from Jesus Christ". Btw try not to push your religious beliefs on other people, some may not like it too much especially non Christians.

Hi administrator, I didn't mean to sound disrespectful but I do believe we humans don't have the ability to analyze dreams and nightmares as much as we doubt God's existence through science. We can pretend we know, we can assume we know, but we just don't. As for hallucination, I've never experienced that before then and since then. I saw that demon flying up my sheets like it was reality so I guess as soon as my soul left my body (which mean half asleep) I saw it, so it wasn't a dream really because my body was paralyzed. No scientific explanation or investigation can explain that.
